What is Carbon Offsetting?

Carbon Offsetting; you may or may not have heard this phrase before.

It’s something we practice here at Wild Acres Coffee and it is a very important part to helping us maintain our goals for environmental protection.

So what is it and why do we do it?

What is Carbon Offsetting?

Imagine spilling a can of paint…

Instead of cleaning up your own can, you pay someone to clean up a different can spilled somewhere elseor prevent another can from being spilled.

While your can is still there, the amount of currently spilled paint remains the same as before you spilled yours.

While this analogy is pretty basic, it illustrates the practice offsetting quite well. Everything we do produces carbon dioxide, even down to the air we exhale.

Carbon offsetting is the practice of reducing emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases in order to compensate for emissions made elsewhere; typically done by funding projects and initiatives dedicated to reducing these gases.

We calculate and offset every single shipment we make to negate the carbon produced by shipping your orders to you.

Why is it Important?

We recognize that carbon offsetting is not the solution to the environmental crisis, but it is a great start.

Not only does it help the environment in a literal sense, but it’s important because it puts businesses on the hook for thinking more about it and how their practices affect it.

If everyone participated in this we can control and sustain the CO2 emissions, and then begin to diminish them to a normal and healthy level!
